Unit 6

Unit 6

Second conditional

We used to talk about impossible situations.

Examples:

  1. If we were in London today, we would be able to go to the concert in Hyde Park.
  2. If I had millions dollars, I'd give a lot to charity.
  3. If there were no hungry people in this world, it would be a much better place.
  4. If everyone had clean water to drink, there would be a lot less disease.

Hope and wish

We use hope when we refers to actions in present and wish with actions in past.

Examples:

  1. I hope this is the last mistake.
  2. I wish my phone worked here.
  3. I hope Antonio got home safely.
  4. I wish you'd told me sooner.
